Chain Linked

Deep Forest

The Chain Link Trail, from Little Owl Lake, past the Chain Lakes and on to the Birkenhead River Road, is finally linked. This crazy project has been in the works for about 8 years now. With generous funding from the PVTA and PWA the link of these trail systems has finally been made. The Chain, Fowl, and route to Ogre, Tenquille network was historically connected to the Birkenhead River via a trapper/mining trail. The re-made connection is quite rideable on a mountain bike. Several sections still need some work, boardwalks and berms will be built in the near future, but the trail will benefit from use so check it out. J Foon, Johnny I and Paige Bell road through on Aug. 19th. Foon Trail Works then spent several days this week on the trappers descent line and the link should now be a worthy outing. Remember that these trails are in there infancy (even though they might be 100 years old) and more work will come. Ride at your own risk, don’t go without a sense of adventure, and be prepared for bugs. It’s a big ride. count on 4-6 hrs. with a shuttle up the Owl road add 1-2 hrs for a full loop. Best to shuttle from the gravel pit near the Birkenhead. The route is on the latest PVTA map.

Live some Pemberton History

At the "cabin".

Through the process of re-connecting this old trail I spent a stupid amount of time in this forest, and I thought a lot about the person who built this place, maintained this route and lived this life. WOW, can you even imagine the effort. The energy that person had for this place. I think I can feel a connection to that, and if you ride here maybe you will too. My vibe is that that person is super stoked that the energy will be felt again and people will be traveling on his trail.

Enjoy the ride!
