YOUTH DIRT SERIES – Pemberton Sept 22, 2013

The Pemberton Valley Trails Association has partnered with the Youth Dirt Series to offer a one day, 6 hour session, designed for athletes ages 6-15 to come out and learn new skills or to tune their existing skill set in a controlled and open setting. The camp will be instructed by PMBI certified coaches who specialize in youth instructing, and are trained to teach mountain bike skills in a group format, on and off the trail.

The camp proposed would take place on September 22, 2013 and run from 9am-3pm at One Mile Lake Park in Pemberton. This location provides an excellent setting for controlled skills and drills and also allows safe access to trails for the kids to practice on.

Camp Details:

The camp will  be broken into two appropriate age groups. The “Dirt Rippers” camp will be open to 6-9 year olds, and the “Dirt Shredders” Camp will be open to the 10-15 age category. The coaches will be instructing on a 1-5 (coach to athlete) ratio as this allows for maximum participant
safety and quality instruction time. All athletes will learn how to do a thorough bike check; to make sure their ride is in good running order for each time they bike. We then follow up with basic body bike positioning, and various skills and drills. This is where the coaches evaluate the athlete’s ability level to then form riding groups, and skill development for the rest of the day.
